3/29/2024 0 Comments Pickit 3 windows 8.1![]() I am hoping they'll get back to me soon but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone on here has gone through this and if maybe there's a solution ( the pickit power, active and status lights are still on so its not completely dead) EDIT: There's definitely a smell that tells me the pickit3 might have let out some magic smoke. I now have reopened a ticket with microchip. ![]() After some more probing I found it to be internal to the pickit3. I started probing around and found out there was a short between the VDD and VSS lines. After messing around with settings i got it to say Programming/Verify complete, but my pic18f45k50 did nothing. Loaded it up and tried to program and got the connection failed error again. So I did that, re-installed my software and wanted to get back to the voltmeter. So since then I've been working on a small 4 digit led 7 segment voltmeter project to get started and that has been going fine until I decided I needed to format my PC cause it was getting slow. After i plugged my pickit into my friends windows 7 PC the firmware got updates and it started working fine on my windows 8.1 PC. It gave me a " connection failed" error, opened up a ticket with microchip but they had nothing useful to say to help me solve it. I plugged it into my windows 8.1 machine, loaded up a basic Blinker program and tried to program. A few months ago I bought a pickit 3 in order to start learning about micro-controllers.
